WPBakery Page Builder

Many themes come bundled with a pagebuilder. The Salient theme bundled a highly-tailored version of WPBakery Page Builder, which is one of the most flexible ones. This plugin allows for building pages through it’s block-enabled editor, which replaces the default WordPress editor (Gutenberg). It is recommended to turn off Gutenberg entirely for compatibility reasons. This can be done by going to WPBakery Page Builder > General Settings and checking the box next to ‘Disable Gutenberg Editor’. This eliminates the need for installing the 'Classic Editor' plugin, as it does the same thing.

The plugin features both a backend editor and a frontend editor. While the backend editor (recommended for development) has a structured but abstracted version of the page setup, the frontend editor allows for editing content on a real-time preview of the page. This is usually much easier to use for the client to edit page content.

The (Salient) library of page elements is located at the ‘+’-sign, but can be extended by making our own elements as well. The ‘Salient templates’ tab features the Salient Studio library with pre-made sections from the demo’s, whereas ‘My Templates’ can be filled with our own templates, so the client can easily mix and match if needed. To save a template to the library, edit a row, click the top-right cogwheel and select ‘Save as template’. To save an element, the same can be done on a component level.
